Technology veteran Esther Dyson has announced that she will no longer be hosting PC Forum.

"As I said elsewhere, every year I thought I could do it better; this year, it was as good as it gets, and I decided to quit while we were ahead," said Dyson in an e-mail.

Dyson posted an official explanation of her decision on her Release 1.0 blog on Friday. (Release 1.0 is owned by CNET Networks, which also owns News.com.)

The 2006 PC Forum that Dyson hosted in Carlsbad, Calif., in March covered Web 2.0 technology.

In a software-driven world, it's easy to forget about the nuts and bolts. Whether it's cars, robots, personal gadgetry or industrial machines, Candace Lombardi examines the moving parts that keep our world rotating. A journalist who divides her time between the United States and the United Kingdom, Lombardi has written about technology for the sites of The New York Times, CNET, USA Today, MSN, ZDNet, Silicon.com, and GameSpot. E-mail her at candacelombardi@gmail.com. She is a member of the CNET Blog Network and is not a current employee of CNET.
