Microsoft, Disney and the 'home of the future'?

by

Sssshh, I know a dirty rumor.

Despite the fact that Disney has just inked a deal with Apple Computer over movie sales in the iTunes Store, and the fact that Apple head honcho Steve Jobs is Disney's largest shareholder, the company that made mouse ears an American icon just might be playing for both teams.

Yeah, word on the street is that Disney, or at least its Anaheim, Calif., theme park, has been sealing deals with Microsoft. Disney fan site Mice Age is reporting that Microsoft will be furnishing the "Home of the Future" at Disneyland's "Innoventions" attraction. It's apparently a two-year, $10 million endeavor.

Considering what bedfellows Disney and Apple have been recently, any kind of alliance between the empires of Mr. Gates and Mr. Mouse seems unlikely. But since Microsoft doesn't seem to want to confirm this, that means it's probably true.

Besides, for companies like Microsoft and Disney, $10 million is pretty much pocket lint.
