It is still in the development phase, but the BBC is planning to unveil a gadget that turns an MP3 player into a DAB (digital audio broadcasting) radio.

The device, which is being developed by BBC's Radio & Music Interactive, will be a clip-on that plugs onto an MP3 player and enables it with digital radio capabilities. According to an article in Stuff Magazine, a BBC representative described a user-friendly experience in which the device will work with a number of different players and won't be restricted to BBC stations.

The BBC hopes to release the product in time for the holiday-shopping season.
