A supposed interview with Bill Gates is, in fact, a complete fabrication, according to Microsoft.
A Microsoft Norway spokesman told the Associated Press that the article was "totally fake." The interview was published in the Norwegian magazine Mann as well as in a Swedish paper.
The author of the article said Gates was interviewed on a commercial flight in Europe, but Gates' people say he wasn't on such a flight.
It's not clear that Gates said anything too juicy in the purported interview. According to the AP, the article quotes Gates as saying he never carries more than a "dime" in his pocket and that he makes $1 bets with his wife. He also talks about Google, saying that the search rival has been "smart."
He's said the same thing in very real articles too.
