In a unique car race from London to the capital of Mongolia, the goal is not to make any world-changing scientific breakthroughs, but to celebrate human ingenuity and good, old-fashioned fun.

"You can only use a car with an engine of less than 1 liter that is generally considered to be crap," states the first rule on the organizer's Web site.

The 200 entrants who left Hyde Park, London, on July 22 will face a wide range of challenges--from mechanical failures to crooked policemen--before reaching their destination.
