Warner Bros. sells 'Friends,' other classic shows at iTunes
Apple Computer's offering of TV shows continues to swell as Warner Bros. Entertainment on Tuesday began selling some of the studio's classic shows on the iTunes download site.
Among the shows available are episodes of "Friends," and "Babylon 5," and the shows will retail for $1.99 apiece, according to a statement from the companies.
Warner has been aggressively pursuing an Internet strategy in the past three months, striking groundbreaking distribution deals with file-sharing system BitTorrent and video-sharing site Guba.
Warner executives have said that they intend to see their digitized movies at numerous online stores.
"Making our television content available to iTunes consumers is an important step in our digital distribution strategy," said Simon Kenny, president, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. "This deal fits perfectly with our philosophy of providing consumers with access to our world-class entertainment properties across the widest selection of platforms and devices available."
