New ring tone rocks writer's world
A few years ago, I was the type of person who modded the hell out of my mobile phone--flashy faceplates, righteous ring tones, adorable accessories...the works. I have slowly but surely realized this is relatively stupid since I upgrade my phone quite frequently. With my past cell phone, I was able to get fun ring tones for free on different sites. Since I now have a phone that plays real tunes, as opposed to the be-bop-beep-beep ring tone of yesterday, it's been hard for me to find free ring tones online.
Copyright issues may have something to do with the lack of truly free real tunes on the Web, and the ringers on my cell sound either like karaoke boy band covers or the most random noises. I even have a "Jungle Calling" ring tone that would be cool--if I was Mowgli from "The Jungle Book." The more subtle ringers are so plinky-planky sounding I can barely hear them.
So today, I decided it was time to take a stand and drop $2.50 on the ring tone of my dreams by using my provider's Web site. I chose "The Final Countdown" by the band Europe, not only because it's one of the best songs ever, but also because it's distinct-sounding and has a feeling of urgency. If I can't hear "The Final Countdown" from within my purse, then I really don't deserve to take the call. Speaking of which, my phone is ringing right now, and I am totally getting tingles hearing two minutes of this awesome song. Hopefully I won't get too many missed calls just because I want to hear the entirety of Europe's masterpiece.
