Dell says XPS 700 shipments to start next week

Dell's new blog, DellOne2One, was updated Friday with news about the XPS 700, which has been a little slow out of the gates. Systems will start shipping before next Friday, according to blogger-in-chief Lionel Menchaca.

Dell announced the XPS 700 in late May, but has yet to ship a single unit due to unspecified quality issues that derailed shipments at the last moment. The system is chock-full of high-end parts and would be Dell's most powerful desktop, assuming anyone could use it.

Users have been clogging Dell's Community Forums with rants about poor customer service. Dell executives have promised of late to fix the service and support problems, starting with $100 million for new and improved staffers and procedures.
