Microsoft about to announce big news

REDMOND, Wash.--Microsoft has scheduled a 1:30 p.m. press conference Thursday with CEO Steve Ballmer and Chairman Bill Gates to announce some important, but unspecified company news.

The company isn't saying any more than a terse news alert that says "Microsoft to announce company news."
