Xbox 360 gets 125 new features
As if your Xbox 360 wasn't feature-packed enough, Microsoft today unveiled a slew of new features. To be exact, 125 of them.
Among the new widgets are enhancements to the Xbox Live marketplace that allow players the ability to choose and download six new high-definition "items" at a time. Those items could include music videos, movie trailers, arcade games or playable game demos, and all can be downloaded while playing as normal with the Xbox.
The new features also let players pause DVD playback, pop in a game, and then later return to the DVD without losing the place where they had paused. That's pretty cool, since most DVD players lose that ability when a disc is taken out.
There's also a new feature that shows the title, artist and time remaining for any song being played.
Basically, the new features are nice, small, incremental additions. None of them are killer apps, but together they will likely make the Xbox experience a little bit more satisfying.
In order to get the update, players can download it through Xbox Live. It is also possible to download it directly from the Internet by connecting the console to a broadband connection.
