Charting the world with WikiMapia

Many mashups are designed for specific functions, such as pinpointing the cheapest gas prices in a particular area. But in this age of open-source information, why not put the entire world up for grabs? That's the thinking behind WikiMapia.org, which takes a Wikipedia-type community reference approach to a Google interactive map of the Earth.
