It's hard to stay optimistic with all the depressing news about global warming and other environmental crises. One thing that can help is to become informed and find out what individuals can do to extend the life of this ill patient we call Earth. A short sample of Web sites honoring Earth Day on Saturday:
Yahoo Celebrates Earth Day, with a list of 10 things people can do to help slow climate change, including carpooling or taking public transportation, saving trees and energy by removing names from mailing lists (see also PaperlessPetition.org's effort to reduce the number of phone directories), using fluorescent bulbs, turning off computers when not in use and using solar power.
Earth Day Network, which was founded by the organizers of the first Earth Day in 1970 and "promotes environmental citizenship and year-round progressive action worldwide."
KidsDomain.com with activities for children.
The EnviroLink Web site, which lets people search for Earth Day events around the world.
