Laptop features drive-in feel
One of the most recognizable quotes in "The Incredibles" came from Buddy, aka Syndrome, when he said: "It's bigger. It's badder. Ladies and gentlemen, it's too much for Mr. Incredible!"
He was referring to his new Omnidroid robot, but he may well have been referring to the Eurocom M590K Emperor. The M590K is a monster of a laptop with a 19-inch screen and two Nvidia GeForce cards for driving video. Nineteen inches of screen seems a bit weak when shopping for a desktop monitor, but on a laptop, it is a bit excessive. Since the laptop is only going two feet away from your face at most, the effect will be the same as watching a movie at a drive-in theater.
There is no denying that this is way cool. But at around $4,000, the machine is also way expensive. The price puts the laptop out of the market for all but the independently wealthy or hard-core technophiles. The bigger screen also makes this laptop heavier than you would likely want to heave, more like a laptop from the '80s. It is clearly being geared toward gamers, but it falls short with a slow 5,400rpm hard drive.
CNET's Justin Jaffe covers many of specifications of this laptop in a blog he wrote Monday, but here is a brief taste:
19-inch display
