Soda gizmo makes freestyle fizzies
Got soda? You can in less than a minute. Weird stuff, too, like kiwi-orange, orange juice soda, carbonated Kool-Aid, root beer lemonade, or grape milk. Well, on second thought...

Hey, sometimes you've just got to take a break from writing about routers to write about homemade seltzer water. Popular in Europe, the Soda-Club soda makers are now being marketed in the U.S. They're like old-fashioned seltzer makers, with a modern twist.
Making soda is most definitely easier than modding a PC. The soda-making machine contains a water bottle and a carbonator that holds compressed CO2. Just fill the water bottle with water, screw it into the soda maker and press the button on top of the unit to inject carbonation into the bottle. For soda, just mix one of the 25 soda mix flavors into the seltzer.
Soda-Club claims that its sodas are healthier than standard soda. The regular flavors contain two-thirds less sugar, calories and carbs than store-bought soda, the company says. Diet flavors are sweetened with Splenda, not aspartame. Most flavors do not have caffeine are lower in sodium that store bought soda, the company claims.
The soda makers are available either in white or a silver-and-black model. The cost starts at $89 for a starter kit that includes a soda maker and soda-making supplies. The kits sell for as much as $300 for the high-end Penguin Plus package.
