Windows Vista gets October update

Following through on its promise to offer monthly updates to its Windows Vista test program, Microsoft plans on Monday to release new code to developers.

Microsoft served up the first of its Community Technology Previews of Vista at September's Professional Developer Conference, promising an update in October.

Monday's update includes a bunch of new capabilities for Internet Explorer 7 as well as a first look at Windows Media Player 11. Microsoft cautioned that many of the features that make their debut in this version will change significantly before Vista debuts next year.
