He would have said it, if he was real

by John Borland

Sony Pictures has finalized a settlement in which it will pay $1.5 million to movie fans as a result of creating a fake movie critic to praise its movies, according to Daily Variety.

The case stemmed from a series of Sony advertisements, which quoted a critic named David Manning, who allegedly worked at the Ridgefield Press, a small newspaper in Connecticut. He had great things to say about such films as "A Knights Tale" and "Hollow Man," despite not actually being real.

Under the terms of the settlement, people who saw the films can get a $5 refund.
