Banking on RSS

by Martin LaMonica

American Express has started a beta program to offer credit card customers services delivered via RSS.

According to a company questionnaire soliciting beta testers, American Express plans to offer feeds for events, travel and shopping to its customers. Information will be delivered using RSS (Really Simple Syndication) protocol.

RSS is widely used for delivering Web content, notably blog postings, published news articles, and podcasts. But RSS stands to expand beyond that.

Microsoft is building RSS support directly in the Longhorn edition of Windows and expects use to grow substantially.

Can Amex bills delivered to RSS aggregators be far away?
