Porn flicks to play on Japanese PSPs
Two Japanese porn publishers have announced plans to release movie titles on Sony's PlayStation Portable entertainment console, according to GamePro.com and other sources.
The companies, h.m.p. and GLAY'z, say eight titles will be available at retailers starting in July. The films will be released on the new Universal Media Disc, or UMD optical media format, which lets consumers play movies on the handheld device.
Due to Japanese pornography regulations, the UMDs will feature Region 2 encoding, meaning they will only work on Japanese and European PSPs. However, rumors are popping up on the Web that the UMDs will in fact be region-free and therefore playable on U.S. PSPs, as well.
As things now stand, U.S. PSP owners in search of the racy have to settle for downloadable content from Playboy and others.
