There's one U.S. company that the Indian service giants don't want to take on, and that's Automatic Data Processing (ADP), the paycheck king, said Jessie Paul, head of marketing for iGate, a Bangalore-based firm that provides a wide range of IT services to overseas companies. The company has been around too long and honed its processes. It also understands the tax issues.

"No Indian company is doing payroll," she said, explaining that Indian companies will prepare the payroll slips for printing, but not the actual payroll functions. "For that, we outsource to them."
