Low-cost Windows to arrive in Brazil in May

Microsoft on Wednesday formally announced its plans to bring Windows XP Starter Edition to Brazil.

The company confirmed earlier this week that it would do so, but gave no details. On Wednesday, the company announced that the software would come in May and listed some partners, including Kennex, Novadata, Positivo and Semp Toshiba .

The big question now is whether the notoriously pro-open source Brazilian government will make room for Windows in its low-cost computer program, known as "PC Connectado."
