Blog search engine Technorati will celebrate its approaching billion-link milestone in a benefit for the Mozilla Foundation, which is about to celebrate the seventh anniversary of releasing the Netscape browser source code.

To observe the milestone and anniversary, Technorati will host, at a San Francisco Chevy's from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, a "user salon" to discuss the state of blogging. Technorati said it would donate 20 percent of the bill to Mozilla.

Quipped one respondent to the announcement, "The more tacos and beer we consume, the more it benefits open source? Fantastic!"
