IAC Interactive buys Ask Jeeves

IAC/InterActiveCorp made it official, announcing a $1.85 billion takeover of Ask Jeeves. CEO Barry Diller stressed the importance of the local advertising and search market in announcing the deal, saying he would integrate the Ask Jeeves search engine throughout IAC's community of web sites, which include Expedia, Ticketmaster, Home Shopping Network, Match.com and CitySearch.
