iPod not yet Sirius about radio
While there has been much talk of an iPod that includes satellite radio capabilities, such a device may still be light years away.
According to the Financial Times, Sirius Satellite Radio Chief Executive Mel Karmazin said recently that he talked to Steve Jobs. Apple Computer's chief wasn't interested hooking the iPod up with satellite radio, he said.
Karmazin said Jobs indicated that, for now, the iTunes Music Store provides consumers with ample listening options. However, the Sirius chief hasn't given up. Jobs left the door open for a future partnership, if there is compelling content available via satellite, Karmazin told the British paper.
With high-rating "shock jock" Howard Stern jumping to Sirius next year, maybe the heavens aren't that far a stretch, after all.
