Frequent flier miles for conference calls

Imagine earning frequent flier miles just for listening to a long conference call. Wouldn't that make pressing "*1" a whole lot more rewarding? [Missing Links]

There are lots of conference calls these days. On a bad day, some people find themselves on a conference call to discuss how to handle the upcoming conference call. Sure, it's easier to surf the Web, but, that still isn't enough motivation when you hit the second hour. But imagine earning frequent flier miles just for listening to a long conference call. That would make pressing "*1" to ask a question a whole lot more rewarding.

Well, keep dreaming. Microsoft on Tuesday did kick off the Live Meeting Rewards program. The paid service offers its customers--call organizers--points for each Live Meeting they schedule. Bonus points are available for jumping through various little hoops: taking a survey, setting up an initial meeting within 30 days of registering. Points can be used for gift cards, merchandise and charity donations--and yes, airline miles.

But, sadly, no points are offered for being one of the minions taking part in a call, even if you do turn off your speakerphone before asking a question.
