Surf's up

by Richard Shim
A true Web surfer

Sick of all the analogies of surfing the Web to actual surfing? Well, here's a literal one for you.

There's a prototype surfboard with a notebook that uses built-in Intel Centrino technology, which allows surfers to check the latest wave and weather reports, navigate the Web and check e-mail between rides. The board was created by Jools Matthews of Gulfstream, a British surf company.

The notebook can be recharged between runs, once it is attached to solar panels.

The board was recently recognized by Time magazine as one of the cool inventions of 2004.
