Research In Motion, the ailing smartphone maker with seemingly more lives than the average cat, may not dish out the new range of BlackBerry 10 devices until March, according to Jefferies analyst Peter Misek.
Writing in a research note seen by Forbes, Misek noted: "We had hoped for a January launch but now see a March launch as more likely."
Speaking to CNET in early summer, RIM executive Richard Piasentin said the mobile maker "won't release a subpar product," and pushed back the release date of the next-generation devices to the coming quarter to create a "more polished product that can turn some heads and win back old BlackBerry users."
Misek also wrote in his note to investors: "We think the business uncertainty means parties are unlikely to acquire or license from RIM until BB10 launches," suggesting that a financial rescue may only come if RIM's upcoming BlackBerry 10 goods are worth a company buy-out.
In an Wall Street Journal report two weeks ago, Misek warned that he sees "little chance for a recovery," adding: "All hope is on BB10. We won't know success or failure until next summer."
