Report: Amazon to have iTunes-like app for Android
Android, Google's highly anticipated mobile phone software set to launch Tuesday, and Apple's iPhone have often been mentioned in the same breath, for features they may--or may not--have in common.
Add one more feature to the list, if a VentureBeat source is right: Amazon is said to have an iTunes-like application for Android. VentureBeat says it got a tip that an HTC phone running Android was spotted in a bar in the San Francisco Bay Area over the weekend and that it had such an Amazon application on it.
But, according to VentureBeat, the source said he believes there will be a key difference:
One thing you cannot yet do through the mobile iTunes store...is buy/rent movies or any other form of video. Our source believes that Amazon's app will allow for that.
The blog goes on to say that Amazon's store on Android is likely to be a mobile version of its MP3 online store.

Now, everybody will copy Apple's innovation and try to improve it.
And I already get ALL my MP3s there so this is a great move on Bezos part. Audible was bought by Amazon , so I`m hoping gPhone will have Audible support. If so , I`m in !
Jeff Bezos is better than Steve Jobs ! He is God LOL
Agreed. I prefer Amazon to most online venders, especially FleeBay. It's just a great online shopping experience. Excellent move! I hope the phone lives up to it's hype. It just says "Freedom" to me.
Android will offer an open system and beat iPhone on price for the same features. Android WILL gain traction and eventually surpass iPhone`s closed system. Apple`s App store is a joke...they won`t allow apps that out-do Apple because they call this a competitive threat. Well guess what ? Android will let you run ANY app. Apple=Crapple !
Apple <> Crapple! That is a fact!!!
I am just so tired of bugs like you. You annoy like a mosquitoes and do not contribute in anything to scientific elocutions or technology evolution. Just move to prehistorical age so you can complain about fire is not perfect because it burns if not controlled. Or about the wheel because it just turns.

- My opinion is that does not matter if Google copies or if Android is better or worst than iPhone OS. What it matter is there are a new product with new policies and objectives to provide some consumers with a good service, that is my hope.

(9 Comments)Is my believe that Android been open source and Linux based, could really revolutionary this mobile sector. But do not forget that Apple was the pioneer in the mobile phone revolution with iPhone/iPhone 3G. So lets not fight about "my is better than yours" lets just see if is a good product or not. Apple is a brand with a lot of fantastic products, so is google a brand with lots of marvelous services. Booth enterprises are good and booth with lots of great intelligence. So hope Android surprise us in a good way, because that could boost some others to try harder and try be more open. Evolution always!
Good luck Android, and yes I have a iPhone 3G and love it.
