Facebook said Tuesday that in the U.S. more than 128 million people use its Web site on a daily basis. The company added that it attracts 101 million people in the U.S. to its various mobile applications each day.
The new stats on daily active users are part of a conscious effort by Facebook to more thoroughly educate advertisers on where they should spend their money. The social network said it would start sharing country-level monthly and daily active user numbers for both desktop and mobile with advertisers.
"We believe brands and businesses should think differently about how people engage with Facebook, especially on mobile," a Facebook spokesperson said. "Businesses should focus on people who come back online every single day, because that is how they live their lives."
The spokesperson added that, in the U.K., Facebook sees 24 million people visit its Web site daily and 20 million people use Facebook mobile every day.
Around the world, Facebook attracts 699 million daily active users, the company revealed in its second-quarter earnings statement last month. The social network's ability to continue to grow the number of people who come back on a daily basis has, in part, helped inspire renewed confidence in its stock.
