Facebook released some changes to its Messages feature designed to make it easier to see new messages and to search for them, moving the interface a bit more toward a traditional e-mail service.

Messages and preceding conversations will now open up in a scrolling pane to the right of the Messages inbox menu instead of opening up in a whole new page, the company said in a blog post. A new search box at the very top of the inbox lets users quickly search on a name or keyword from there.

"You can also bring conversations to life with multiple photos and emoticons," the post says. And Facebook also has added keyboard commands for faster navigation.
