Sony is giving all of its 2011 smartphone owners a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich.
The electronics giant revealed today via a user forum that the latest Android update has started rolling out for all its remaining 2011 smartphones. The models specifically cited by Sony include the Xperia Ray, Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V, Xperia Neo, Xperia Arc, Xperia Pro, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Mini, Xperia Active, and the Live with Walkman.
The company provided details for each of the phones showing that the rollout kicked off yesterday. As usual, the Android 4.0.4 updates are being released in batches across various countries. Owners of any Sony model listed should follow the links in the user forum to learn how to check their SI (sales item) to determine if they're on the update list.
Sony had earlier promised that it would dole out Ice Cream Sandwich for the rest of its 2011 Xperia line in late May and early June.
But one model left out in the cold for now is the Xperia Play. After testing ICS on the Play, the company found that a "consistent and stable experience, particularly with gaming, cannot be guaranteed for this smartphone on Ice Cream Sandwich."
