It took just eight years for Zuckerberg to turn his Harvard dorm room project into a giant public company that now boasts a user base approaching almost 15 percent of the world's population. Almost from the moment Zuckerberg landed in Silicon Valley back in 2004, ostensibly just for the summer, the business began to take off. He met key people. Investors quickly showed interest, and today Facebook carries a stock market valuation that's bigger than Amazon's.
