What do Beyonce's pregnancy and the Pittsburgh Steelers have in common? Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow topped them both.

Tebow led the Broncos to an improbable overtime win over the Steelers in the wild card round of the NFL playoffs on Sunday.

The buzz around the game exploded onto Twitter with a new sports tweets-per-second record of 9,420, according to Twitter.

Tebow also beat out Beyonce's baby news. She didn't quite reach 9,000. Tebow took the crown from previous sports record-holder, the women's World Cup final. That milestone of 7,196 tweets-per-second was set in July of last year.

Twitter held up under the football onslaught much better than the Steelers' defense did on the winning play.

The tweet-fest can be traced to the spectacular nature of the win and the publicity boom that follows Tebow around wherever he goes. Having 895,000 Twitter followers probably helps, as well.

Now we can speculate about what it will take to break the new record. A Tebow Super Bowl win should do the trick.
