New Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer issued her first internal memo to employees, encouraging them to "keep moving" and to share their ideas for Yahoo with her.
In a company memo published by AllThingsD, Mayer acknowledged the obvious concerns over the direction of the company. Though she said she has some ideas for moving forward, she said she wanted to take some time before making changes in strategy or direction.
In the meantime, she encouraged workers to stay on track.
"You are doing important work," she said. "Please don't stop."
Mayer urged employees with questions or concerns about their current projects to ask about them. But with a few exceptions, she wrote, the "the answer is most likely: 'Yes, keep moving'."
The new CEO also expressed her fondness for Yahoo, saying that she's respected it and been a fan ever since she first experienced it as a student at Stanford in 1994.
Of course, Mayer is the latest in a long line of CEOs faced with the challenge of reviving a company that's lost its way since 1994.
Yahoo has been struggling to define itself for years as rivals like Google and Facebook raced past it. Weak management and sluggish financial results haven't helped.
