The Archos 80 Xenon tablet with 3G to land in June for $199

Another day, another Archos tablet announcement. Recently, the company unveiled its gift to chefs and foodies, the ChefPad. Not the cleverest of names, but it does include an interesting app-filtering feature. OK, where was I? Oh, yes, a new Archos tablet, the 80 Xenon, is coming in June for $199.

The 80 Xenon features an 8-inch IPS screen with an iPad Mini-matching -- but still unimpressive -- 1,024x768-pixel resolution. A 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 acts as the brains, with an Adreno 203 chip running all things graphical.

With specs like that, don't expect much in the … Read more

Sylvania aims its zXe headlights at the tuner set

LAS VEGAS--When a manufacturer of headlights and auxiliary lights shows you its newest products, it's probably not a good idear to look directly into the light.

Sylvania isn't shy about boasting that it is the leader in automotive lighting technology, but I'll admit that I wasn't expecting to be wowed by a bunch of light bulbs. I was, quite literally, dazzled.

Once the after-image had cleared from my vision, it was explained to me that the new Slyvania Silverstar zXe line of aftermarket replacement headlight bulbs attempts to mimic the ultra white light of HID headlamps … Read more

LG Xenon up close and personal

When we first saw the LG Xenon at CTIA 2009, we had only a very brief few minutes with the phone and couldn't quite get a proper feel for the device. Now that we've had it for a few days, we have to say that the LG Xenon is one of the better messaging phones out there, and the touch-screen interface is pretty sweet, to boot.

The QWERTY keyboard has four lines of keys, making it feel roomy and tactile. It also has dedicated keys for messaging, a dedicated @ key, and a ".com" key. The touch-screen … Read more

Hands-on with the LG Xenon

My first stop this morning at CTIA was to the LG booth, particularly to take a closer look at the LG Xenon, which was announced earlier this week. The Xenon is quite svelte at 4.16 inches long by 2.11 inches wide by 0.62 inch thick, and it has a nice 262,000-color 2.8-inch QVGA touch-screen display. Underneath the display are three physical keys; the Send, task manager, and End/Power keys. The task manager key brings up a list of open applications that you can toggle through. The touch screen has vibrating feedback, and there's … Read more

AT&T lights up lineup with LG's Xenon, Neon

AT&T let the cat out of the bag a little ahead of the CTIA conference, introducing to its upcoming offerings two LG handhelds with slide-out QWERTY keyboards, the LG Xenon and the LG Neon.

Both handsets have touch-screen displays, and yes, both have QWERTY keyboards for easy messaging.

The LG Xenon measures 4.16 inches long by 2.11 inches wide by 0.62 of an inch thick. Weighing about 3.81 ounces, it has a large 2.8-inch display with vibration feedback, a home screen menu similar to the interface on other LG touch-screen phones, and a … Read more
