Get ready to download apps to your Chrysler Ram or Viper

Two of Chrysler's cars are morphing into smartphones, sort of -- right down to the ability to access their own "app store."

The 2013 models of the Ram 1500 pickup and the SRT Viper sports car, expected to hit the market later this year, will come with a few features born from Chrysler's partnership with Sprint Nextel, announced in March. Among them: the vehicles can act as mobile WiFi hotspot, send text messages via voice command, and offer emergency and location services using the Sprint 3G network.

Microsoft is going to have to work quickly if it wants to avoid losing a Windows Phone supporter in LG.

According to the Korea Herald, LG will instead continue its Android efforts.

LG's comments after last week's earnings report come as a blow to Microsoft, which is still trying to make headway with its fledgling mobile platform. … Read more

Verizon's 4G LTE blankets two-thirds of U.S. population

Verizon Wireless continues to put its foot on the pedal when it comes to its 4G LTE deployment.

On Thursday, the company plans to expand into 27 new markets and improve coverage in 44 existing markets, blanketing two-thirds of the U.S. population.

Such a rapid deployment underscores the importance of offering a high-speed wireless service, particularly as more consumers browse the Internet, watch videos, and exchange messages on increasingly sophisticated mobile devices. 'Battlestar Galactica' fans, rejoice! A real-life Viper is in the works

As a "Battlestar Galactica" fan, I've always dreamed of seeing a Viper on Earth. Now, a group of students is coming close to making it a reality.

Simply called The Viper, the students' creation is a motion-controlled flight simulator inspired by BSG's Mark VII Viper. The students took the fuselage of a small plane and suspended it from a motion-controlled platform capable of spinning it 360 degrees around the pitch and roll axes. On the inside, there is a BSG-inspired cockpit, radar and all.

In order to create the flying effect, the students have been modifying … Read more

LAS VEGAS--With a simple Web page on its site, Sprint today spilled more details on its already-promised switch to LTE and the first devices that would support it.

According to the page, the carrier will launch LTE and "improved 3G coverage" in the first half of this year in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Atlanta. Also like the others, it offers free and paid subscription services, both of which offer the same level of checking from the same database and other similar and virtually identical services.
