ViewSonic's E70 tablet puts ICS only $170 away

LAS VEGAS--You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, and apparently the same goes for bringing Ice Cream Sandwich to a sub-$200 tablet. At least for ViewSonic. The company's ViewPad E70 offers an ICS experience for less than $200, but made a few sacrifices to get there.

Viewsonic tablet does Windows and Android

Viewsonic will begin shipping a tablet later this month that runs both Windows 7 and Android, the company said today.

Aimed at business users, the ViewPad 10pro runs Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" as an application on top of the Windows 7 operating system, according to Viewsonic. "Users need to simply tap on the Android icon to make a seamless switch between business productivity and...entertainment," the company said in a statement.

Intel, which is supplying the 1.5GHz Atom Z670 processor powering the tablet, said the 10pro provides a platform to demonstrate how its processors can run both operating systems. … Read more
