Ferrari F12berlinetta packs 740 prancing horsepower

Remember last week, when I casually stated that there was no way that Ferrari's new V-12 halo car would be more powerful than the 720-horsepower 599XX? Well, I was wrong. The new model's 6.3-liter V-12 spins with the fury of 740 galloping equines. You may also remember that the rumors pointed to the new model being called the F620 GT. Well that was wrong too, because what Ferrari pulled the wraps off of on its Web site this morning has been dubbed the F12berlinetta.

That's right, the 2013 Ferrari F12berlinetta, with no space and a lowercase &… Read more

Most powerful Ferrari ever? I'll take two, please.

Ferrari just rolled out a short teaser video announcing the dawning of "a new era of extreme V-12 cars." Speculation around the 'Net indicates that the Italian automaker will be pulling the wraps off of the successor to its 599 grand tourer: the F620 GT.

Expect the new vehicle to carry its V-12 engine--possibly sourced from or based on the V-12 that powers the Ferrari FF shooting brake--up front and under an elongated hood. Like the 599 it aims to replace, the new model will probably also send its power exclusively to the rear-axle. And if this … Read more

Aston Martin confirms limited-run V12 Zagato

With $527,000, you could buy a one-bedroom condo in Manhattan's West Village, a Girard-Perregaux Cat's Eye Tourbillon Haute Joaillerie watch, or an 82-foot Multiplast Fast Express yacht. But you might also consider an Aston Martin V12 Zagato, a limited-production run car designed to commemorate the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato.

Aston Martin designed the V12 Zagato to commemorate the 1960 DB4 GT Zagato, a version of the DB4 modified at Italy's Zagato factory. The V12 Zagato was built on the V12 Vantage platform. Its body is comprised of carbon fiber and aluminum. The car boasts a 0 to 62 mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph.

Initially, Aston Martin entered two V12 Zagatos in the 24-hour Nurburgring endurance race, which both cars finished. The model garnered enough interest from the public that Aston Martin announced a limited run, just 150 of the hand-built cars. … Read more

2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost Unveiled at Frankfurt

Roughly a week ago, the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show wrapped up an exciting ten or so days of new cars being paraded around for industry insiders. A few days ago I presented a video clip in this blog documenting what Edmunds.com believed to be highlights of the Frankfurt festivities. One of the new cars coming out that caught my attention was the 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost. So I spent this evening doing some digging around on what this latest Rolls-Royce production model was all about, and this video is the best synopsis of this classy ride.

This video produced by … Read more

Ferrari 'Breadvan': In-car view at Festival of Speed

Last Friday, we had a bit of Web video fun with some classic European sports cars in action. Out of all those supersweet automobiles, my favorite has to be the somewhat quirky looking Ferrari 250 GT SWB Drogo, perhaps better known as the "Breadvan" because of its unshapely and boxy exterior. Despite its hard-to-miss appearance, a reader noted that the car I focused on about the 5:10 mark in the video was in actuality not the 250 GT. I'll be the first to admit my mistakes and reiterate for the Nth time that I do not … Read more

Newspaper of future or yesterday's headlines?

V12 Design created some buzz more than a year ago when photos of its dual-screen laptop design were circulated around the Web. It wasn't so much the double LCDs that drew interest--others have done that--but the digital newspaper pages displayed on the screens.

The concept from the Italian design house raised the possibility of a portable device that might come close to replicating the experience of reading an open-broadsheet newspaper. European newspapers have already been experimenting with single-page e-readers that get hourly updates from wireless connections.

Now V12 is reportedly planning to go forward with a real product, … Read more
