Google Glass: Who's bringing the apps?

When Jonathan Gottfried developed a Twitter app for Google Glass called GlassTweet, he did so because he wanted a way to tweet photos from his Glass headset. Now it's looking as though he's onto something, although no one would characterize his user base as big -- yet.

"There's at least 10 people using GlassTweet," said Gottfried, who is a developer evangelist for Twilio. "The group that's using it is extremely active and vocal," and includes uber-early adopters such as the all-Glass, all-the-time Robert Scoble and LeWeb founder Loic LeMeur.

Twilio takes on the world with its cloud-based telephony

Twilio, a startup with a platform for developing cloud-based communications apps, said today it is taking that platform global.

In a keynote address at the company's annual TwilioCon here, CEO Jeff Lawson said that as of this morning, the platform would be available in 40 countries on six continents. To date, it had been available only in North America and Europe.

Twilio nets $17m for cloud communications platform

Twilio, the maker of a platform for developing cloud-based communications apps, said today it has closed a $17 million C round of funding.

All told, Twilio has now raised $31.5 million. Its new round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Union Square Ventures, both of which had participated in its B round. Union Square also invested in Twilio's A round.
