Apple's iOS 4.3.4 jailbroken

Apple last week released its latest iOS update to fix a security flaw exploited by a jailbreaking tool, but the new version--4.3.4--has itself already been jailbroken.

Detailed by the folks at Redmond Pie, the custom PwnageTool now lets users jailbreak any iOS device running iOS 4.3.4 with the exception of the iPad 2. The jailbreak was created and launched Friday, not too long after 4.3.4 was released.

How Microsoft is trying to make us more productive

A Microsoft press event held last week in Redmond under the name "The Future of Productivity Council" wasn't about introducing new and exciting products. But the day-long event Friday did give us a closer look at how Microsoft develops productivity software and also allowed us to hear from several Microsoft executives about what they are trying to accomplish in the productivity sphere.

Microsoft exec Elop named Nokia CEO

Stephen Elop, president of the Microsoft Business Division, is leaving the software giant to become chief executive of Nokia as the phone maker seeks to become a software company.

Nokia said in a press release late Thursday it has hired Elop to replace Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, who will leave his position as CEO on September 20. Kallasvuo, a 30-year Nokia veteran, will also leave the company's board but remains non-executive chairman of Nokia Siemens Networks.
