Samsung SyncMaster S23A550H review: Does DVI still matter?

The Samsung PX2370 review is consistently the most popular monitor review on CNET. Not surprisingly, since it's the monitor I recommend the most, on nearly a daily basis, through other monitor reviews and nearly every monitor-related blog post (kind of like this one).

The PX2370's design, price, performance, and features make it one of the best TN displays we've ever reviewed. As with most hit movies, though, living up to the magic of the first film in a sequel is daunting to say the least.

The Samsung SyncMaster S23A550H, Samsung's 2011 follow-up to the PX2370, thanks … Read more

BenQ EW2420 gets away with low price (review)

The BenQ EW2420 is the first monitor I've reviewed to feature the rare combination of an LED backlight and an AMVA (Advanced Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment) panel.

Since I was made privy to the monitor's existence, I've been very curious as to what kind of performance I'd be seeing.

AMVA-based monitors purportedly feature higher contrast ratios than even other MVA monitor types. I knew that going into the review, but I wasn't prepared for exactly how high.

Thanks to its incredibly low black level, which averaged at about 0.04 candelas per square meters, we saw … Read more

Samsung delivers LED monitor re-up

LAS VEGAS--In the last year or so, the Samsung PX2370 and XL2370 have set the world afire in the LED monitor space, and Samsung is not content to rest on its laurels.

Today the company announced two new slim LED monitors to follow up the X2370 line. The Samsung 550 and 350 are the new LED kids on the block and as you can see, they're both downright gorgeous.

The 550 is the more high-end solution, whereas the 350 will be offered as a lower-end LED monitor.

These LED-based monitors continue Samsung's attention to aesthetic design and functionality, … Read more

Top-rated Samsung monitors

I really can't shake a stick these days without running smack dab into a Samsung monitor. This is of particular concern to me, what with my affinity for stick-shaking and all.

With so many Samsung monitors being released and the fact that I review many of them, it stands to reason that the very best of the Samsung best would need to be rounded up, stood up, and counted. All five of them.

Here you'll find the five best Samsung monitors we've reviewed so far. If your favorite Samsung monitor isn't on this list, then we … Read more

Samsung goes to plan B...X

In the last year Samsung has taken the success of its SyncMaster XL2370 and run with it. Last March the company followed it up with the PX2370 and now it's time for plan B.

BX that is. The Samsung SyncMaster BX2350 is the third LED-based monitor released by Samsung since September 2009.

The biggest, noticeable difference from its predecessors are its two chrome feet, which take the place of the circular stand found on the previous models. That's right, chrome feet. How awesome is that?!...

But chrome feet do not a great monitor make. Most consumers require at … Read more

Samsung's 24-inch P2450h: Different kind of green machine

Samsung rarely fails to manufacturer good-looking monitors that, at the very least, perform decently. Its SyncMaster XL2370 and PX2370 are both great examples of aesthetically pleasing monitors with performance that backs up their good looks.

This week we reviewed the Samsung SyncMaster P2450h. While its brothers are more like the overachieving, valedictorian, star athletes of Samsung's monitor litter, the P2450h is akin to that weird uncle that still hasn't moved out of his parent's basement and never fails to mention that he "has something cooking" that will really turn his life around, "and then … Read more

Samsung's PX2370 evolves

One of my great joys in life is witnessing the evolution of a concept. It doesn't matter if it's tracking the progress in gameplay, graphics, and storytelling made in the Metal Gear Solid Series, or studying the evolution of Gollum's computer graphics quality in the "Lord of the Rings" movie series. I simply love seeing something improve over time. Iteration after iteration.

So it probably comes as little surprise how excited I was to receive the Samsung PX2370. This is Samsung's follow-up to one of the most popular monitors we've ever reviewed, the … Read more

Samsung PX2370 (photos)

Earlier this year, we told you about Samsung's PX2370; the successor to the very popular XL2370.

Well, we finally got one in, and while we spend the next few days touching it, smelling it, tasting it,and passing it through our lower intestines, I took just a few photos to help you pass the time. Look for a full review soon.

Samsung announces PX2370 LED monitor

LAS VEGAS--Anyone who has paid any attention to my recent monitor reviews knows I have a certain affinity for the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370.

So you can probably imagine my delight when on Wednesday Samsung announced what seems to be a followup to the XL2370, the PX2370.

At first glance the PX2370 looks similar to the XL2370, albeit with what may be a thicker profile. I'll be able to confirm this on Thursday when I get a good up-close-and-personal look at it from the show floor.

One of the most unique features is the proximity sensor, which automatically turns the … Read more
