Will Facebook threats destroy psychic octopus?

Facebook has always struggled with hate groups.

It defines the hate emotion so subjectively that one hardly knows what it is permissible to hate--semolina, perhaps--and what is entirely verboten. (Not Holocaust denial, it seems.)

So I will be very curious how the peak players at Facebook will react to the news that certain Facebook members and groups are demanding the death of a very sensitive creature, Paul the psychic octopus.

Should you have recently been buried by youths on a secluded beach, you might not know that Paul is an octopus who lives in a tank in Oberhausen, Germany, and … Read more

Psychic terminology database

MB Psychic Dictionary provides definitions for a wide range of words and symbols in the psychic world. While its layout was nothing special, its dedication to education was impressive.

The program's interface initially disappointed us since it consisted of nothing but words and a lot of white space. However, this made learning the program a lot simpler, especially because we were unable to get much from the online Help file's brief descriptions. Fortunately, the program took next-to-no training to master. We were able to scroll through an alphabetical list of hundreds of terms ranging from the 23-Day Cycle … Read more

The 'Tweance': Talk to dead stars on Twitter

If you have been trying to tweet Michael Jackson over the last few weeks without even a squeak of success, might I sing you a song of hope?

A remarkably forward-thinking psychic has decided to hold a seance on Twitter. A "Tweance," if you will.

According to the Sun newspaper, Jayne Wallace, who claims to have been a psychic since she was (at least) 7 years old, will be available to every member of the world's tweeting population on October 30, between 10 a.m. and noon British Miserable Autumn Time (that's 3 a.m. to … Read more

Questionable psychic test

MB Psychic Color Test allows users to test and develop their psychic abilities by trying to predict which color the program has selected from a group of colored rectangles. If ones assumes that psychic abilities do exist, we suppose that this program could be a useful tool, although it's hard to gauge whether the program actually works the way the publisher says it does.

The interface is simple, though cluttered with ads for the publisher, Mystic Board. Users select from beginner, intermediate, or expert levels, with the number of color choices increasing with the difficulty. The program displays a … Read more

Discover psychic powers

MB Psychic Test Software is a fun way for users to see if they have psychic abilities. While it takes a little time to understand, users will soon master this testing software.

The program's interface is initially a confusing collection of radio buttons and a single sharp image of an astrological card. Since the program gives you no direction and the Help file is fairly unhelpful, users need to experiment to get a taste for the program. Luckily, the Psychic Test Software soon proves to be a simple way to try your hand at predicting the future and should … Read more

The worst downloads of 2008

Sure, you're all jazzed about Barack Obama and looking forward to a brighter 2009, but what about the catastrophes of 2008? I'm not talking about the financial meltdown, Sarah Palin, or The Love Guru, I'm talking about the worst downloads of the year.

Every three months, Tom Merritt (of CNET TV renown) and I collaborate on a lighthearted tribute to the software failures that stick out among the many excellent programs on Download.com worse than John McCain supporters at the Inauguration Day gala.

To qualify, these downloads have to meet the minimum requirements specified by Download.… Read more

Ultraman premonition comes true

It's not often that Crave gets freaked out, but we were a little thrown by this coincidence.

The other day we ran a small item about a small device, a robot USB key. Certainly nothing unusual about that, except for a random reference to Ultraman--a character we probably hadn't recalled more than two or three times since childhood. Then Saturday, only a few days after the robot USB item, what do we spy? An Ultraman USB key.

Fareastgizmos reports that the 256MB storage device is part of a 40th anniversary commorative set of collectibles dedicated to the … Read more
