Channel William Shatner with new 'Shatoetry' spoken word app

iPhone users can now make William Shatneresque poetry, filled with his dramatic pauses and unique inflections, thanks to an app released today.

Called Shatoetry, the app lets users choose from a library of prerecorded words to create what Shatner -- or his marketing people -- has branded "Shatisms," phrases played out in Shatner's voice. Onesens does explosive magnetic poetry for Web media

Onesens is a really peculiar annotation tool for shared media on the Web. It lets you add a variety of words like magnetic poetry to a photos, videos, and music tracks. When another user sees your creation the words are scattered about, but there are buttons to reorder, or simply "explode" them once again. Users can also reorganize them as they would fridge magnets to create new expressions, although these can't be shared with other users or the creator of the original message.

The last SFBeta party featured CEOs pitching their company concepts in Haiku. Note to other party organizers: Quiet, contemplative Haiku is not the best format for a crowd of young, frat-boyish entrepreneurs...who've been drinking.

So at the most recent SFBeta party, organizer Christian Perry (from Zaptix) changed the poetry form to limerick. Much better! Bawdy rhymes tend to cut through barroom chatter more sharply than soft leaves underfoot.
