Kindle games start to proliferate

The Kindle as portable gaming platform? Seems like a misprint, but the number of Kindle games is growing, with a new one, Next, released today, and eight total in the Kindle Store.

The latest include Sudoku, Texas Hold'em Poker, and Panda Poet, a new word game in which words you form turn into pandas and the goal is "grow the biggest panda possible."

Liquid Story Binder XE is a comprehensive program that allows users to organize every aspect of the novel-writing process. The program's many features are almost its downfall, however, as the number of capabilities is somewhat overwhelming.

The program's interface manages to be both sleek and awkward. Each of its various tools opens in a new window, and the program allows users to save their preferred combination of windows as a workspace. Poet to make ethanol from corn cobs next year

Fuel producer Poet said on Wednesday that it will open an ethanol plant next year that will use corn cobs and fiber from kernels as a feedstock.

Construction on the $4 million pilot facility in Scotland, S.D., will begin by the end of the year and produce 20,000 gallons of ethanol per year.

Next year, it intends to begin work on a larger, commercial-scale plant using this same process that would begin operating in 2011. It is part of a $200 million Department of Energy cellulosic ethanol research effort called Project Liberty, the company said.
