Last week, San Francisco was transformed into Gotham City and subjected to a crime spree only the likes of Christopher Nolan could conceive, and only the bravery of Batkid could subdue. But instead of a multimillion-dollar special-effects budget and Christian Bale (let alone Ben Affleck), the show came courtesy of the city of San Francisco, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, thousands of local volunteers, and a 5-year-old named Miles.
You probably know the story by now. Miles is battling leukemia, and when the Make-A-Wish folks put out the call for help to make his dream of being Batkid for a day come true, the Bay Area went bat-bonkers.
