Latest Jobo photo frame slim in design, features

I really liked the last Jobo frame I reviewed, but it was just a little short on features in comparison with other models in its price and size range. It looks as if the company's latest model is no different.

The 8-inch Jobo Plano 8 has an 800x600-pixel resolution LCD with a 400:1 contrast ratio and measures 8.4 inches wide by 6.5 inches high by 0.9 inch thick. There are slots for SD, SDHC, MMC, MemoryStick, and xD cards (not CompactFlash, though), and a USB port for connecting external storage. There is no internal memory, … Read more

Jobo adds Mac support for PhotoGPS geotagger

Back in September, I mentioned a new GPS geotagging device for digital cameras with hot shoes, the Jobo PhotoGPS. Unfortunately, at launch, Jobo left Mac users out of the picture, so to speak: the included software used to match the receiver's recorded data to photos transferred to a computer was Windows only. However, arriving a little later than originally planned, there is now a Mac version of the software.

For the unfamiliar, the PhotoGPS is a small and lightweight GPS receiver that fits directly on any digital camera's hot shoe--just like a flash unit. The $175 device allows … Read more

Jobo's new 7-inch photo frame includes a remote

You know it's bad when the most exciting thing about a product is that it comes with a remote control. However, to be fair to Jobo AG and its PDJ077 digital photo frame, most sub-$100 7-inch displays don't include a remote. Or support for CF cards for that matter. The PDJ077 has both.

The LCD also features an 800x480 resolution with a contrast ratio of 400:1 and user-adjustable brightness. The frame has slots for CF, SD/SDHC, MMC, and MS cards as well as a full-size USB 2.0 port for use with external drives. Another … Read more

Jobo digital frame goes cordless, not wireless

What's the difference between a digital picture frame, err, photo display that's cordless and one that's wireless? Wireless means it's ready to connect to a wireless network, cordless means it doesn't always need a power cord. The Jobo AG 8.4-inch PDJ801 Photo Display is cordless thanks to a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery, making it more portable than your average outlet-needing digital frame.

Along with the battery you get 1GB of internal memory, card slots for CF, SD, MMC, MS and MS Pro, xD, and a 800x600 resolution with a 500:1 contrast ratio. Price … Read more

Jobo portable photo-backer-upper: Faster, bigger

Jobo on Monday announced the Giga One Ultra device, a portable hard drive for backing up photos in the field. That's a notch more spacious than the 120GB of the Giga One predecessor or the Spectator device, which unlike the Giga One devices have a color screen.

The drives have slots for a variety of flash memory modules, including CompactFlash, SD and SDHC, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro. Photographers can back up their data while on the road, an idea that's especially useful if you're running out of flash card space.

The new models can download … Read more
