Peek under the skin of Predator, Alien, and Mogwai

Chances are you had to dissect a frog in high school biology class. What if it had been a Mogwai instead? Artist Bradwick J. McGinty III has created a bizarre mashup of science fiction creatures and vintage anatomical drawings imagining what fictional beasts look like under their skin.

The Mogwai doesn't look as cute and cuddly as usual in this form. The illustration hints at its sinister transformation into a Gremlin through the care and feeding instructions at the bottom of the drawing. Better keep an eye on those feeding times!… Read more

SanDisk buys MusicGremlin

Today, SanDisk announced the acquisition of MusicGremlin. As one of the pioneers of Wi-Fi-enabled MP3 players, MusicGremlin's expertise may help SanDisk resurrect its Sansa Connect MP3 player model, which was partially obsoleted by the demise of Yahoo's subscription music service earlier this year.

SanDisk's MP3 players are second only to Apple's iPod in terms of sales, and are characterized by their low price and wide file format compatibility. The addition of a Wi-Fi-capable portable music player to SanDisk's current product line would help the company stay competitive against new offerings from Haier, Slacker, and Microsoft. … Read more

Bring on the Zune!

Well, Microsoft's Zune is upon us and response seems to be a bit on the underwhelming side. With onboard Wi-Fi that can be used only to sample tracks from other Zunes within 30 feet, and an audio/video marketplace with next to no video content, the tepid reception of the Zune seems far from surprising. It's a safe bet that Microsoft will eventually release patches that will improve the usability, but lets be honest--we want our goodies, and we want 'em now.
