I know that, for so many men in the world, GQ represents the high altar of fashion.

So there will possibly be hordes of engineers, coders, and their lovers streaming toward Gucci today, having heard that GQ has declared Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg as tech's worst-dressed male.

In its presentation of the 15 worst-dressed men of Silicon Valley, GQ reached for a soaring smoking jacket of wit and found, some might say, merely a cummerbund of carping.

Hackers find free downloading of Conde Nast iPad mags possible

An interesting story reported by The Huffington Post suggests Conde Nast iPad (and iPhone) apps have a critical flaw that can allows anyone inclined to change a preference file to download new issues of magazines for free.

Conde Nast publishes iOS versions of its popular magazines including GQ, Vogue, Wired, and The New Yorker. The hack, which is really just a simple set of instructions, was developed by the Italian "research group" Dark Apples.

U2 manager still thinks ISPs are freeloading

This month's U.K. edition of GQ Magazine contains a fairly substantial article from U2 manager Paul McGuinness in which he blames Internet service providers and technology companies directly for the falling sales of recorded music. As he notes in the article, he made a speech on this subject about two years ago and was roundly criticized by various "anonymous bloggers." Conde Nast in October is bringing down the curtain on its Web-only brand Men.Style.com and launching sites for two of its print titles, GQ and Details, according to an Advertising Age story and subsequently confirmed by a company official.

Ad Age gives the impression that the move is part of the publisher's overall strategy to align its Web site brands with its print brands.
