I've been reviewing about 100 cars a year for CNET Car Tech since 2005, but until now, never had a Lamborghini darken my doorstep. That changes this week as we take you into the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. Now, you know me, I seldom like to follow the well-worn path when cars come in. I've shown the miserable failings of some of the most celebrated cars on earth, and stacked up the heroic strengths of some of the most pedestrian. … Read more

Lamborghini driver arrested after posting speeding video

Pride comes before a visit from the police.

An example of this socially-networked maxim comes from Japan, where a man decided to drive his car toward its maximum.

His car happened to be a Lamborghini Gallardo, which tends to go like dung off a shovel -- a phrase I've never understood, as I've never seen dung fly quickly off a shovel.

This man, whose name has been withheld -- perhaps to protect him from admirers -- took his Gallardo out for a spin and spun it along at around 156 kilometers an hour. This is a mere 97 … Read more

Watch a Nissan Juke-R spank a trio of supercars in Dubai

When Nissan showed us renderings of a GT-R powered Nissan Juke-R, we said, "Gee, that's neat." When it started building the darn thing, our interest was piqued.

Today, we have a video of this oddest of skunkworks supercars at a street race exhibition event in Dubai going wheel-to-wheel with the likes of a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Ferrari 458 Italia, and a Mercedes-Benz SLS. Check it out below.

OK, so "wheel-to-wheel" was a bit of an overstatement as the Juke hands the trio of proper supercars their hats around an improvised short course. How did that … Read more

Audi sets R8 Spyder 5.2 Quattro price at $161,000

Tony Stark drove the 2011 R8 Spyder 5.2 Quattro supercar in "Iron Man 2," now you can too for a mere $161,000, Audi today announced. The first open-top Audi supercar, which has a top speed of 195 mph, will begin rolling into U.S. showrooms as soon as next month.

The R8 Spyder 5.2 Quattro differs from the classic Audi look--there are no signature sideblades on the Spyder. Another significant difference on the R8 Spyder is the use of dramatic Aluminum Optic vents on the new rear engine cover and aluminum a-pillars. Last year, CNET'… Read more

Ford pits Fiesta against Lambo, hilarity ensues

We've driven the Ford Fiesta and we know that it's a fun little subcompact, but is it a Lamborghini slayer? Probably not, but that's the tongue-in-cheek tactic that Ford's latest promotional video for the tiny hatchback takes.

Hosted by YouTube star Brittani Louise Taylor, the video starts with a drag race that, with about a 400 horsepower difference, ends about how you'd expect. But this is a Ford promo video with a series of Fiesta-centric tests, so you can guess that things ultimately work out for the little guy. Check out the goofiest shootout you'… Read more

2010 Lamborghini Gallardo does Australia

Yesterday I was writing about the new Audi R8 sports car that's borrowed at least a few attributes from the Lamborghini Gallardo. I figured since I brought up the subject that I may as well present you with a video of that very car, and specifically in this case we are putting the spotlight on the 2010 Lambo Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder as it blazes through the Canary Islands.

Lamborghini's Gallardo is numerically its biggest production car and is generally regarded the world over as one of the best performing and aesthetically pleasing modern sports cars. The Spyder edition … Read more

Audi R8: V10 vs. V8

There was lots of automotive eye candy to behold at the recently-held 2009 International Auto Show in San Francisco, but one particular car definitely caught an extended gaze of my eye. My vision honed in a shiny white and black sports car, sitting in a "hands off" section of the showroom floor. To my surprise, this mean-looking sports car was an Audi, but not just any Audi. This here was the 2010 Audi R8 rockin' a length-side up with a mounted V10 mid-engine. I had to know more and see more of this particular car, and that's … Read more

Audi R8 leaks, looks oddly familiar

We all knew this was coming, now we have photographic proof. Images of the drop-top version of Audi's R8 have leaked onto the interwebs before the official unveiling at the 2009 Frankfurt auto show.

Considering that the R8 coupe so closely resembles the Lamborghini Gallardo (with which it shares a platform), it's no surprise that the R8 Spyder looks a lot like an Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder with a German nose job. Like the new S5 Cabriolet, Audi will most likely equip the R8 with a powered canvas top rather than a heavier metal roof.

From the looks of … Read more

Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 rumored

When I was flying around the California Speedway in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 at 140 mph, I wasn't thinking, "This would be so much better with two fewer horsepower and two fewer driving wheels." However, if the rumors circulating the Web of an LP550-2 model are true, that may just be what's next from the bull-badged supercar manufacturer.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 is believed to be powered by a 550 horsepower 5.2-liter V10 sending power to the rear-wheels only, rather than through an all-wheel drive system. Dropping the hardware required to drive the front wheels … Read more
