Flickering Mac Minis to get a fix

MacRumors is reporting that a fix is in the works for a display flickering problem on Apple's latest Mac Mini models.

The flickering problem, in which the screen intermittently goes black for a few seconds, has been outlined by a number of new 2012 Mac Mini users, who report that it occurs when their systems are connected to HDMI video devices.

This problem seems isolated to HDMI connections and does not affect DisplayPort connections through the Thunderbolt port on the Mac.

Apple issues private update for flickering 24-inch Cinema Display

MacRumors is reporting the availability of a new firmware update for Apple's discontinued 24-inch LED cinema displays, which addresses intermittent flickering when the displays are connected to Thunderbolt Macs. The update was privately issued to some users who contacted Apple support about the issue, and in a discussion thread at the Apple support communities one of these users posted a link to the update after having received it via emial correspondance with Apple's second-tier support.

Apple update squishes Apple TV graphics bug

Following the recent OS X 10.6.7 update that in part specifically addressed a graphics bugs being experienced by new 2011 MacBook Pro owners, Apple has also released an Apple TV update that addresses the graphics flickering experienced after the recent 4.2 software update for that system. Apple's 10.6.5 update fixes MacBook Air video issues

Apple has released a knowledgebase document pertaining to the latest OS X 10.6.5 update, which mentions that the incompatibilities in OS X 10.6.4 that resulted in corrupt graphics and display flickering in the new MacBook Air systems have been corrected. The issue was first noticed in both the 11-inch and 13-inch 2010 model MacBook Air systems earlier this month.

Leaked memo notes MacBook Air display problems

The redesigned MacBook Air is only two weeks old, and reports of display issues have begun to crop up.

Cult of Mac reported earlier this week that it noticed flickering horizontal lines sometimes appearing on the display of its 13-inch model. A quick check of Apple support forums reveals a couple dozen reports of similar issues.

Though Apple has yet to publicly acknowledge the problem, a leaked internal memo shows that the company's support staff is indeed aware of it. Boy Genius Report received the memo from an unnamed source, and published it today.
