LG Flatron D2342P review: 3D on the cheap

By offering a 3D monitor that eschews the $150 Nvidia 3D Vision Kit in favor of a more affordable option, LG is attempting to widen the 3D market with its Flatron D2342P monitor.

The display comes with a pair of passive 3D glasses, which are a lot cheaper to produce than the active-shutter lenses of the Nvidia glasses.

Passive 3D displays polarize every other horizontal line of resolution on the monitor so that, in the case of the D2342P with its 1080P resolution, each eye sees a different 540 lines of the picture, creating a 3D effect.

LG Flatron W2363D review: Glorious or gimmicky lights?

The LG W2363D-PF is a 3D monitor, but apparently that distinction is no longer enough for a monitor to stand out from the pack. These days, 3D everything is quite ubiquitous, backlashes notwithstanding.

So, when you're the 100th monitor with a black chassis or the 30th 3D monitor released in the last three months, it's difficult to stand out from the crowd. Sure, you could throw some oddly placed pastels into your design or go all white as some vendors have, but there's an important detail to remember.

A good design allows a monitor to showcase its … Read more

The thin and pretty LG Flatron E2260

The LG Flatron E2260 is one of the slightest, thinnest monitors we've come in contact with.

It bares more than a passing resemblance to Samsung's "X" LED series, including the XL2370, PX2370, and most recently BX2350.

Like the Samsungs, the E2260 has a translucent neck and a minimalist design; however, it doesn't have quite the panache of the Samsungs.

Check out the review to see how its performance compares.

LG's E2350V or 'The Samsung XL2370, LG-style'

I have no evidence to support what I'm about to state, but the following scenario just may have taken place. LG, witnessing the Samsung Syncmaster XL2370 get tons of positive attention for its looks and simple design, decides, "Wouldn't it be nice if we released a monitor that got tons of attention for its looks and simple design, too?" And thus was born the LG Flatron E2350V, according to me, that is.

The E2350V looks a lot like the XL2370, but also includes a couple features not seen on the Samsung model, like a built-in headphone … Read more

Another week, another LED-based monitor review

The LED revolution has truly begun. In the last month or so, we've reviewed three LED-based LCD computer monitors, and we expect that they won't be the last.

Last week, we looked at the LG Flatron W2386L. It's an LED-based monitor that, while offering great game performance and a thin design, could not compare performancewise to the current LED king, the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370.

This week, we reviewed the AOC V22 LED monitor. Unlike many recent monitors, this one has a 16:10 aspect ratio instead of 16:9, Also, it has an extremely glossy screen--like "… Read more

Two monitors attempt to pass in the HDTV world

What's the difference between an HDTV and a computer monitor? Well, let's see. HDTVs are for the most part made for watching movies and HD broadcasts, and playing video games. Monitors are made for everyday computer operations, productivity tasks, computer games, and to a lesser extent movies. Also, monitors are generally smaller than your average HDTV, and HDTVs usually have more in the way of connection options.

So where does this leave my latest two monitor reviews? The LG Flatron M237WD and the Samsung SyncMaster P2370HD are both monitors with many features only TVs usually have, including multiple … Read more

The full LG Flatron M237WD review is coming...really!

Last week, I explained my reasons for holding off on the review of the LG Flatron M237WD.

I know it's a disappointment to those you who have been inquiring about the review for a while now, but I still believe that waiting for a very similar comparison monitor--in this case, the Samsung P2370HD--will make for a much better and useful review.

So, to tide you over, I recorded a short video of me taking a quick look at the LG Flatron M237WD, very early in the morning. Notice my workout clothes. Also, please forgive the amateurish camera work. I'… Read more
